Bethesda/Zenimax (you know those folks, The Elder Scrolls, Fallout 3, that sort of thing) registered some new trademarks just recently.

On 5 February 2009, Bethesda Softworks LLC applied for the Fallout trademark for “Entertainment services in the nature of an on-going television program” (s/n 77663853) and for “motion picture films about a post-nuclear apocalyptic world” (s/n 77663852). Obviously they already own all the other US trademarks to do with this game property at present.

Fallout, the film. Or the TV series. Hmm. Interesting notion.

Color my cynical, but I think they’d just ruin it if they tried. I have no faith in Hollywood being able to capture the gritty, nuanced combination of satire and horror that is the Fallout universe.

You’re right. I mean, look at fallout 3. Failure.

I dunno, at least they never introduced dog armor.

The first DLC pack for FO3 was total fail, though – hardcore combat does not necessarily mesh with the immersive storytelling FO3 was written around.

actually, I liked fallout 3. of course, I preferred 1 and 2, but 3 was good. as for the movie/tv show… ewe bowl would have to be kept away from it…
other directors have done good things with a chunk of other properties that had major bomb potential (for example: Batman).
