Windows user? Trying to figure out where all your hard-drive space seems to have gotten to? Yeah, me too.
I tried a few tools out, without a whole lot of success, until I stumbled onto HDGraph just now. I was able to find 20GB (plus change) lurking in some corners I’d long forgotten about, and dump the waste.
A few of the files were literally five years old, and some were things I’d downloaded into unexpected places due to inattention. You know how sometimes the file-selector isn’t always pointing quite where you’re expecting it to be, and you either don’t notice or you’re in a rush, figuring you’ll remember the location later? Like that.
It takes a little while to scan through your system, but it is totally worth it. Double-click on any part of the graph, and it will draw you a more detailed one from that point down. Double-click in the middle and it goes up a level. It’s neat. So neat, I felt the urge to share.
It’s also free. Go get it. Darn fine tool. Linux and Mac versions on the way, but not ready for prime-time yet.
As for me, I’ve got some free hard-drive space to fill up!

I used to use WinDirStats, more recently I’ve started trying TreeSize Professional, which so far seems to be free, so far nothing to complain about either of them, but I’ll download the one you recommended to check it out too
I’ve been using Overdisk, it seems to almost the same.

Cool tool! For Linux users, there’s:
* FileLight ( http://www.methylblue.com/filelight/ ) for KDE (thanks to Thickbrick on Plurk for the link)
* Baobab ( http://www.marzocca.net/linux/baobab/ ) for Gnome
Both have the same sort of ring view as HDGraph.
And hey, I’ve already found a few GB I could get rid of! Yay!
Nice!
Good catch.
*pinches post to share with the world*
