What is privacy?

Privacy, oddly enough, isn’t about how much or how little you reveal about yourself, your circumstances and your activities.

Privacy is about having the choice of what you reveal, how much or how little. As long as that choice remains yours, you have privacy. As soon as someone else starts making that choice for you, you’ve lost your privacy, even if the information is relatively minor and trivial.

Privacy is all about you having control over what you reveal. Anything less doesn’t deserve the label.

If you’ve got that control, it doesn’t matter how much or how little you choose to show, you’ve still got your privacy.
