Terrence Linden says that the official close-date for Teen Second Life will be 31 December, and formal announcements are in the works.

Happy new year, kids.

Thank Opensource Obscure for spotting that!

Updated:

Katharine Berry observes that 31 December was the date that the Teen grid finally left open beta, back in 2005. It then immediately broke and didn’t really work properly for a couple months from memory.

So, that’s going to be exactly five years in production (and about 2 years overseen, if you’ll pardon my saying so).

  1. TigroSpottystripes Katsu says:

Expect a growth in the population of the main grid close to the size of teen grid’s

  2. Actually, I expect a slight dip. Technically, the teen grid and the main grid are actually both on the same grid, so the teen grid’s metrics are actually already a part of the usual statistics.

With the elimination of the 15-and-under users, I expect a tiny reduction..
