Thanks to John Lester (AKA Pathfinder) for putting this one about. You can get an opensim installation that you can run from a USB stick (or pretty much any portable media).

It works for Windows. For other operating systems the procedure is doubtless rather different.

All in all, it takes about 20 minutes to set up, following through all the steps in several sets of instructions…

… or you can just download a zip-file from someone who has already done it, unpack it and be running in about one minute – although you’ll likely profit from learning to do it yourself at some point.
