A tiny corner of the once-great IBM continent. IBM used to have one of the largest presences in Second Life. I’d wind up there for all sorts of meetings and activities on a fairly regular basis.

Then all of that seemed to dry up a while ago, and when I had occasion to revisit several IBM installations just recently, well… almost all of it is gone.

There’s a scant handful of scattered IBM regions visible on the grid nowadays – and most locked away from public access – and while I used to bump into IBM employees routinely in Second Life, it’s been ages since I last came across one.

It’s a bit disheartening, I must say. There’s talk about a clash between IBM and Linden Lab over the (now discontinued) Second Life Enterprise product, but not very much in the way of details. Does anyone know anything more specific that they can share?
