    I’ve been thinking some more and reading some of your own thoughts about the position that Linden Lab is advertising for a Senior Client Manager. Well, after some reflection I think that there’s definitely a strong case for doing this (though admittedly, there’s probably an even stronger case for doing it four or five years ago). Just a few years ago (only 5 years ago), I was a CTO in a global logistics company. Now, the logistics biz isn’t an industry where you can do your job if your PC isn’t working. You can’t just pull out paper and a pen and get anything at all done. 95% of the job is purely electronic. The remaining 5% generated a heck of a lot of paper, though. While everyone could send and receive all manner of documents by email nearly instantly, almost every one of those documents needed to be resent … by fax. Linden Lab’s got two positions hiring at the moment. Let’s look at the most interesting one: the Senior Client Manager. So, some of the old crowd from the Emerald dev team have kicked off a new viewer project, starting with the source code of the old one, after a key Emerald developer dug his heels in and killed the old project. Linden Lab has a new vice-president of Marketing (though no word as to whether she’ll be working in the Lab’s marketing headquarters in Amsterdam as yet). Much is being made of the fact that she’s late of Activision-Blizzard. As customers or service users, our past experiences and our beliefs about a company, its support, products and services are frequently more important than the present actualities. Why? Because it’s what we believe to be true that drives our decisions, rather than what is actually true. Fred Nile, Christian Democrat MP, apparently has more porn passing through his official PC than that of any other sitting member. Current reports are silent on how this might compare to members that are more upright. Paisley Beebe rounded up some awesome guests over the weekend, specifically Carl Metropolitan and Mitch Wagner. Second Life’s search censorship blacklist appears to have gone a bit funny, and is refusing to retain entries containing the substring ‘lol’.
