Another tendency of a so-called professionals that galls me is when they question what I deal with every day compared to what they see but occasionally. I've changed dressings for years, I know my way around bedpans (sometimes when nurses in Hospital refuses to assist), and I know what is "normal" for my charge and what isn't. Ask questions, but don't question me, they need to learn. And I'm amazed how often I'm completely dismissed because I'm a woman and my brother happens to be with us or because I'm a mute. What is it about my genitals or lack of vocal chords that disqualifies me for what I do 24/7?
Thanks for letting me vent. I'm sorry you have problems, too, and if I could make them go away, I would.

/me hugs you as one care giver to another.

Another tendency of a so-called professionals that galls me is when they question what I deal with every day compared to what they see but occasionally. The only people with substantive training here are actually working in the mental health field - and the few facilities available in most areas are horrifically underfunded, understaffed, and neglected.
One city I lived in did have a 24-hour mental health ER, which was a godsend for our patients having crises.

It sounds like medical personnel in Victoria have the same problems they do here in the US – woefully inadequate training in caring for those with mental health issues. We've got similar problems in the UK. Psychiatrists that see you as the illness, not a person. One shrink I had regularly turned up over an hour late to his consultation sessions. Community Psychiatric Nurses that judge patients and decide who deserves support and sympathy and who doesn't.
Thank God I was contacted by mental health charity Together and invited to their helpful programmes. Their home visitors were far more helpful and their weekly meeting, courses and occasional conferences allowed me to meet a wide range of people with various mental health conditions.
Being able to support others and encourage each other is a wonderful thing!

@Stryker, when exactly was this NOT the case? I recall a town-hall meeting in 2007(?) as the last event where the Lindens made even a show of listening to those who pay their bills.
For SL's remaining educators, at least these outages fall during summer break for he US cohort. But our international members are trying--trying--to finish work with professional students in nursing, science, and other fields.
I hope they are looking to OpenSim grids after this continuing fiasco. With both Tateru and Hamlet decrying different problems with SL today, you'd think the Lindens might make some public statements beyond Rod Humble's funny Tweets.
But even British humor gets old when others are paying the bills.

“The Good Old Times are back.
