Death by app

The “killer app” is the thing you fear in the hands of your competitors, because it kills your business – or so it is believed, hence the name.

Well, that ain’t exactly so. Businesses don’t get killed by “killer apps”. They get killed by consistent failure to adapt.

Being adaptable is what the management of your company are for. It’s their primary role in the corporate structure, because external change is constant. Sometimes it’s slow and sometimes sudden, but it is always there. Managers and executives have other roles and functions, but those are actually secondary.

If you don’t bring adaptability to the table, then you’re not really necessary to the business.

If your management cannot or won’t adapt to changing circumstances, the company may as well replace its managers and executives with laminated motivational posters. It’s just as effective and a whole lot cheaper.
