I was more than a little surprised to hear that the Virtual Worlds Best Practices in Education conference is back on again this year. Quite honestly, considering the frictions between the Education community and Linden Lab this year, I would have expected it to have taken place on some other grid (Jokaydia, for example).

So, yes. That’s sort of weird. Weird enough that I almost took it for an April Fools’ gag. I really wasn’t expecting Second Life to be on that conferences list of potential venues this year.

Until Monday March 7 only, you can view, vote and leave your comment online for The Physical TV Company’s acclaimed ‘mixed reality’ dance film ENTANGLEMENT THEORY at the World of Women (WOW) Online Film Festival.

Thereafter at 8.30 pm on Wednesday March 9, ENTANGLEMENT THEORY will be screened at the Dendy Opera Quays, the cinema near the Sydney Opera House.

A sample of the fantasy portraits Justin Nichol is hoping to fund his next semester at Concept Art Academy in Pasadena. In order to raise the money, he’s creating fantasy-style portraits for use in games, etc, dually licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike license and GPL 3.0.

If you’d like to get involved, and donate a little towards this enterprising artist’s education, check out the project page.

Another sample of Justin Nichol's work If you’d like to see a little more of Justin’s work, you can check out his blog, by clicking on the image at the left.

Disclaimer: I don’t know Justin Nichol, but I think it’s a pretty cool idea.
