A quieter month for me – I spent much of it being ill, and I apologise to those of you that were needlessly concerned. It wasn’t serious, but it was persistent and intrusive. All in all it has been a complicated month.

August was kind of a mixed month. Rolling health problems and other things rather limited the time I was able to spend on the blog, unfortunately. That said, it was the fifth best month on record for readership.

Oh, there ain’t no rest for the wicked, Money don’t grow on trees. I got bills to pay, I got mouths to feed, There ain’t nothing in this world for free... A record month for the blog indeed, for traffic, posts and profits. I must confess that I’m very pleased.

Social media news sites that feature voting on stories (like Digg, Slashdot, or Reddit) normally are populated with a large population of people who – without any particular basis for doing so – will bury a Second Life story faster than a dead budgerigar that’s starting to smell. Unless that story says something that appeals to popular, but incorrect, prejudices about Second Life, in which case it’s more than likely to be voted up to the front page in short order.
