Rheta Shan, whom many of you probably knew well or knew of has apparently died in an AFK accident. This is a topic I was going to be writing about anyway, but right now, things are a bit shocking and sad. I’ll leave you all to your own thoughts for the moment. Words just aren’t going to cut it right now. My heart goes out to her SL partner, Thdast Schwarzman.

Oh my… when I read the words “apparently died” I was expecting that, well, at some point, you would announce that this was not the case!
Unfortunately it seems that I just read that wrongly
Farewell, Rheta.
A part of me keeps hoping it will turn out to be wrong, or not true. As it does every time.
For thou art not so……
Dubito ergo sum. It’s three simple words that drives every critical-thinking cynic.
As well as many a conspiracy nut, I suppose. But those are few and far between, and often engrossed in meaningful endeavors like the Moon Landing, Kennedy’s Assass…
It seems I use ‘Apparently’ a lot when it comes to Obituaries: http://dwellonit.taterunino.net/category/people/obituaries/
Several things cast doubt on the truth of this story.
For example:
The “tech guy” writes in a comment that the RL husband must not ever know about her SL. However, the RL husband knows the tech guy who runs her SL blog, enough so as to notify him. And the tech guy then publishes the letter verbatim.
The more you look at it, the more inconsistencies you find. Read the blogs, the archive.org copy of the original blog, and the plurk timelines.
I’ll mourn when I see an obituary, or a news story. Until then, extraordinary claims require proof.
